American Expat Living in Spain
Growing up, my mom used to call me the “aimless wanderer.” Looking back, there’s some truth to that. I wouldn’t say my wandering was entirely aimless, but I have certainly gone through life in my own way. Planning has never been my strong suit, most things either happened spontaneously or at the last minute.
I’ve always described my life as a winding road, one I thought would lead in a certain direction, only for the world to take me somewhere completely different. But in the end, it all seems to have worked out for the best.
I began traveling later in life, not in my 20’s like many others. It felt like I was a step behind in discovering what truly made me happy. While most people pursued careers based on their passions, I worked simply to fund more trips. That became my priority. I don’t have a dramatic, life-changing story, just a simple one. I’m just an ordinary person who found that traveling made me feel alive. Over time, it became my passion, exploring the world and embracing everything it has to offer.
Now, I’ve built a life for myself in Spain, where I’ve been living for about four years. Every summer, I have the opportunity to go back home and spend time with family and friends. I feel incredibly fortunate to be here, and over time, I’ve grown into what I see as a complete version of myself.
I want to create a space for people who are starting or have been solo traveling to get and give advice, support each other and inspire each other. A positive community of people who hold the same interests of travel, culture and exploring the world. One country at a time.
34 countries and counting.
